Arpita Mehta’s Winter/Festive 2017 collection “Midnight Muse” is a sensuous yet festive affair inspired by the love and longing for the dark night. The designer, who started her own label in 2007, has come a long way since her debut at Lakme India Fashion Week W/F 2013 and has created a reputed name for herself in the industry. Her very first collection “The Violet Garden” got Arpita great reviews as well as commercial success. Her second and third collections, “Paradiso” at the Summer/Resort and “Starlight” at the Winter/Festive, was an instant hit as well.
Kriti Sanon took to the ramp looking pretty in a midnight blue high-waisted lehenga with lotus thread and small cutdana embroidery highlighted with 3D mirror and thread work. Soft fluid fabrics housed within bold structured formats show the conflicting yet compromising mood of the collection, blending both thoughts beautifully together.
The use of Silk Chiffon, Tabi silk and Georgette adds a feminine touch to the whimsical world of the pret pieces. The lotus flower is a central theme that runs throughout the collection, subtly revealing itself in printed capes or thread work embroidered jackets. 3D Appliqué and sequined birds make for a unique addition, as they fly over fields of flowers beautifully designed on the lehenga skirts.
The collection is a modern twist on the traditional Indian clothing as the silhouettes take the form of slip dresses, sharp structured jackets, pleated pallazo pants, crop top sets and ruffle floral lehengas.
