VES conducts national-level research poster competition in science

VES College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Chembur, organised a research poster competition in science on Wednesday. The event, which was conducted for the seventh consecutive year supported by Industrial group and is essentially a platform where researchers and students of all categories from UG to PhD level showcased their findings.

More than 600 students from 32 colleges from Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Andhra Pradesh took part at the national event which comprised of five categories: biotechnology, environmental science, life sciences, microbiology and phytochemicals. More than 275 posters were showcased during the event.

From Mumbai students from prominent colleges such as St. Xavier’s, K C College, Wilson College, Thakur College, etc. participated. The winners were awarded the annual Sajjan Gupta Konark Memorial Award as event was supported by Konark Group.

“The event provided a great opportunity for researchers of all ages to present their work and receive valuable feedback. The students presented their ideas, concepts, thoughts, etc. in order for the world to see. We are glad that the event was attended by more than a thousand participants plus eminent researchers from various fields who were invited to judge the event. The idea behind this event was to bring the academia closer to the industry and build closer partnerships for mutual benefits. Also, arranging events like this encourages junior students to create interest in science and take up academic researches in future,” said Dr Jayashree Phadnis, Principal, VES College of Arts, Science and Commerce.

“It is an interesting platform for us to showcase our researches in front of the eminent judges. It is like an extra-curricular activity for us. It is an opportunity for us to come out of classrooms and do serious researches in our areas of studies. We got feedbacks from the judges whose valuable comments and suggestions were encouraging,” said a 2nd Year student from Wilson College, Mumbai.
