Nike’s iconic Air Max shoe, first launched on the 26 of March 1987, marked its 27th anniversary yesterday. In the form of a literal window to the sole, Nike’s Air cushioning forever changed how Nike designed running sneakers. This shoe, however, has changed in looks, design and technology since its prototype was launched more than two decades ago.
In celebration of the success of the Air Max shoe globally, Nike played host to a grand event that included an augmented reality project, live graffiti by artist Zake and a special selection of music by Dualist Inquiry.
This sneaker, a combination of style and innovative technology was created close to 30 years ago. However, it still holds its own even in 2014. Nike’s Air Max day was a great way to commemorate the existence of this one-of-a-kind sport shoe.
