Since his humble inception in 2007, Waves has grown by leaps and bounds over the past few years. It is one of the biggest cultural fests in the country. Being the fastest growing cultural festival with euphoric entertainment, captivating events, vibrant crowd and the appeal of a festive atmosphere unique only to Goa, Waves prides at being a social and cultural phenomenon, setting it apart from every other festivals in the country. Through the many years since its inception, Waves has stood the test of time, consistently scaling new zeniths in its pursuit of cultural excellence and vibrancy.Waves has proudly witnessed the grand coming of the finest artists and performers in the nation, withKailash Kher, Vidya Balan, KK, Indian Ocean and Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan being a few of them. Other eminent personalities to grace our cultural festival include Mani Shankar (Bollywood director), Chandni Sahgal (MTV India ex‐Country Head), VJ Bani (MTV host), Tarla Dalal (international chef), Ashish Shakaya, Rohan Joshi and Tanmay Bhat(Stand‐up comedians).
Waves 2013 saw a myriad of performances, the biggest being DJ night hosted by DJ NYK. We had Blackstrat Blues and Nikhil D’souza mesmerising everyone with their renditions on the second night of Waves. We also had Kalki Koechlin, the bollywood actress gracing us with her presence. Vishal and Shekhar rocked the stage with their energising performance. The most memorable event of the night was a surprise visit by Priyanka Chopra who danced to Vishal-Shekhar’s tunes on stage. We had international artists like Gustavo entertaining everyone with his fun‐filled antics on stage. MTV India’s host Jose was also present to raise awareness about voting in elections. The East India Comedy group had everyone in splits with their smart stand‐up comedy.The stage for Waves 2014 –‐ Lights, Camera, Mayhem! is all set. Famous comedian, Kanan Gill of the ‘Pretentious Movie Reviews’ shall be performing for a pre‐Waves event. The legendary music composer and playback singer, Shankar Mahadevan has been confirmed to perform this year for the Hindi Night one of the most awaited moments of Waves. For the first time in India at a college level, L-Acoustics shall be providing the audio setup for the music nights creating havoc in the air and on the stage. Audio quality has never been better. We also have All India Bakchod, a group of the finest stand-up comedians in India performing at BITS Goa for Waves 2014.
Waves 2014 has a plethora of events such as literary events like Jam, Contention‐the Waves debate, quizzes like the national quiz, the vices quiz, face painting competitions , etc. Searock is one of India’s best rock band competitions whose eliminations are held in 8 different cities all across India. We have Big 3 which includes Natyanjali, Mr. And Ms. Waves and FashP. Natyanjali is a huge group dance competition which sees a lot of participation every year. Mr. and Ms. Waves is a lot of fun in which the participants showcase their talents to win the coveted title. FashP is a platform to showcase your hidden talents in the world of modeling and fashion designing. In 2013, contestants who won FashP were given a direct entry to the rounds of Femina Miss India. This was judged by none other than Rochelle Maria Rao, ex‐Miss India and IPL host. This year again, Waves shall see Femina Miss India grace the occasion. In addition to these there are various performing events like Nukkad Natak, Skyme, Street Dancing making sure that there is something to offer to everyone.With so many exciting events spread out over three days, there surely is going to be mayhem in Goa and Waves is only going to get bigger and better. With an array of trusting sponsors, a determined Coordination Committee and much anticipated participation, Waves 2014 is sure to leave its mark once again.
